The power network supplies receivers of a very different nature and purpose. These receivers can be classified from different points of view, but the most common breakdown is by application. The following groups of receivers have a decisive influence on the operation of power grids and installations:

— urządzenia elektrotermiczne.
Many other groups of receivers are supplied from the power grid, but their share in power and energy consumption is small and they do not have a major impact on the operation of the network.
The basic parameters or features of electricity receivers are:
— rodzaj prądu,
— napięcie znamionowe,
— moc znamionowa,
— moc przy rozruchu,
— charakter pracy,
— symetria obciążenia sieci,
— dopuszczalne odchylenia i wahania napięcia,
— stopień niezawodności zasilania.
